Trainig with the Police Rapid Response Unit and foreign partners

Ideal conditions provided for cooperative training of the Operators from the 5th Special Forces Regiment (5th SFR), Police Rapid Response Unit (PPU) Žilina, the Intervention Unit of the Moravian-Silesian Region of Czech Republic, and the Polish Police Counter-Terrorist Intervention Unit SPKP Krakow. The training took place from August 15 to 17, 2023, by the dominant feature of the northern part of central Slovakia – Liptovská Mara and its adjacent surroundings.
The exercise was supported by helicopters from the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, and was divided into two training days. On the first day, the Mountain Rescue Service joined the training forces, supporting the activity. Throughout the day, participants practiced alternative methods of both - water and underwater insertion, while the Fire and Rescue Brigade of the Slovak Republic supervised and ensured the safety and potential rescue of the trainees.
The second day was exclusively reserved for the Armed Forces, with addition of the members of the National Criminal Agency (NAKA) and the Special Purpose Unit of the Presidium of the Police of the Slovak Republic, „Lynx“. In the shooting range area Jasná, members of the Žilina PPU created three complex shooting scenarios. Before the trainees could engage in these scenarios, they had to successfully execute shooting exercises from a Bell 429 helicopter, using assault rifles and shotguns. This simulation aimed to replicate the act of stopping a fleeing vehicle by targeting its engine block.
After being deployed to the ground, each pair addressed one shooting scenario at a time. Aim of the excersise was to test shooting and tactical skills of the trainees. This type of exercise, also conducted with other units, provides significant benefits for the 5th SFR and establishes conditions conducive to the successful execution of domestic crisis management tasks. We continue to uphold our motto: "Regardless of nationality or military and police affiliation, we are united by a common purpose - citizens' security!"
